How did you launch your first product without any proprietary code?

We launched using Magento, which is an open-source e-commerce platform. We called it Cart Rocket, sold it to enterprises, and acted as an agency. I pretended we had a big team and did all the coding myself. That agency revenue funded our first two engineers before we raised venture capital.
